Inside the workshop

A look inside a bespoke joinery workshop, where furniture is made from scratch

This is where all the work is done.

Everything I make is built in the workshop from raw materials. Nothing is bought in or pre-made. That means I control how each piece is built, how it fits, and how it’s finished.

Where materials become furniture

Most jobs arrive as full sheet materials.

Internals are made using veneered boards. Doors and frames are made from moisture-resistant MDF, which gives a clean, consistent finish once painted.

Materials are stored properly and prepared before cutting. Getting this right makes the rest of the build more accurate.

Workshop setup

The workshop is set up so jobs can move through properly.

There’s space for cutting, assembling and checking pieces before they move on. Most builds come together on the central bench, where adjustments are made as the work progresses.

Machines are chosen for accuracy and reliability. The setup stays the same so each job is built in a consistent way.

How projects take shape

Most clients come with an idea already.

Usually it’s something they’ve seen online or a previous project of mine. From there, it’s about understanding the space and what the piece needs to do.

I don’t overcomplicate the design stage. Experience means I know what will work.

Day to day in the workshop

Some days are slower, some are busier, but the approach stays the same. Nothing is rushed and everything is checked before it leaves the workshop.
